Trauma-Informed Meditation Teacher Training
6-Week Certificate Program | In-Person in Portarlington, VIC
Begins Saturday, 27 September 2025
In a world moving faster than ever, meditation offers something profoundly necessary: stillness, presence, and the ability to return to ourselves. But for many, traditional meditation practices can feel unsafe, especially for those living with chronic stress or trauma. That’s why trauma-informed meditation teaching is not only important—it’s essential.
This 6-week certificate training is designed to empower space holders, reiki practitioners, yoga teachers, holistic practitioners, and wellness professionals with the skills to guide meditation in a way that is gentle, inclusive, and rooted in nervous system safety.
Throughout the program, we explore the science of stress and trauma, including the way our bodies respond to overwhelm through fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses. You’ll learn how the nervous system shifts into dorsal vagal shutdown—a state of collapse or disconnection—and how to recognise and support students who may be experiencing these patterns. We take a deep dive into the vagus nerve and its relationship with the diaphragm, learning how diaphragmatic breathing can gently regulate the nervous system and support the body’s return to safety.
A core focus of the training is understanding and activating the Relaxation Response—which is the body’s natural mechanism for healing, restoration, and calm. When taught with awareness, meditation can help reduce stress hormones, lower blood pressure, support immune function, improve sleep, and increase clarity, compassion, and emotional resilience.
Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, this training embraces choice, invitation, and pacing. You will learn how to offer breathwork, body awareness, Yoga Nidra, and gentle mindfulness techniques in a way that honours each person's unique experience and capacity. We also explore how to adapt practices when the breath feels unsafe or when stillness brings discomfort—allowing every participant to feel supported, rather than pushed or overwhelmed.
In addition to practical meditation techniques, you’ll develop essential space-holding skills grounded in holistic counselling and presence. We’ll explore how to guide with your voice, support emotional processing, offer grounding and integration, and hold space with deep compassion and attunement.
By the end of the training, you’ll not only be equipped to write and lead your own trauma-informed meditations, but you’ll also have a deeper understanding of how to embody the practice yourself—living and guiding from a place of regulation, steadiness, and authenticity.
This training is delivered in person at The Soul-Full Mind Wellness Hub in Portarlington, VIC. You’ll be part of a small, nurturing group of like-hearted people committed to making a difference in the lives of others. A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the course.
If you’re ready to deepen your understanding of meditation, the nervous system, and the power of presence—this journey is for you.
Come as you are. Leave as a confident, compassionate, and trauma-aware meditation teacher.
